Mary Snead Chapman was the younger of two daughters of Dr. Samuel Edward Chapman, both of whom attended the Burwell School [1].

Story

As the healthier child, Mary was also much brighter and livelier. She married Cicero Primrose around the age of twenty-two. His family was also connected with the Burwell School as his sister Mary Anne Primrose attended and his older brother Robert Stuart), Jr. Primros married a Burwell student, Sarah Sitgreaves Attmore . Mary had two children with Cicero. Her first daughter, however, died in childhood. Mary herself died when her second daughter Mary Ellis Primrose, or Min as she was called, was seventeen [1].

  • Burwell School, from 1850. Both Mary and her sister Catharine Chapman are listed in the Burwell School Catalogue of 1848-1851. They are thought to have attended together in the late 1840s when they were twelve or thirteen years old [1].
