A doctor, James Miller married Ann Eliza Ashe in 1857.
As a doctor, James Arrington Miller proved extremely valuable during the 1861 yellow fever epidemic in Wilmington and went on to join the C.S.A. in 1862 as a surgeon. Dr. Miller had four children with Ann Eliza but left no direct descendants.
- Spouse: Ann Eliza Ashe (b. 1833), married on January 6, 1857. Ther ceremony was performed by the Reverend Robert B. Drane. During the course of their marriage, the couple had four children but have no direct descendants .
