Major William Shepperd Ashe led a long and distinguished career.

Story

He was a member of the U.S. Congress from 1850 to 1855. He served as president of the Wilmington, NC and Weldon, NC Railroad from 1854 to 1862. He also served as a major in the C.S.A.
