Story

Margaret Johnson of Orange County, NC appears on a roster of Burwell students, but little is known of her. An obituary notice appeared in the The Hillsborough Recorder [1] on September 15, 1858 and recorded the death of Margaret J. Johnston of Alamance County, NC at the Concord Female College in Statesville, NC in Statesville, NC, USA on September 4, 1858. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church and the only daughter of her widowed mother [2].
